President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to elevate the Philippine transportation sector to global standards, with a strong emphasis on modernizing the country’s aviation infrastructure. In alignment with this vision, airport upgrade, expansion, and modernization projects are currently in full swing—aimed at improving connectivity, boosting tourism, and driving sustainable economic growth.
With multi-billion-peso investments increasing each year, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is leading comprehensive, long-term development plans to enhance aviation safety, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability. These initiatives are part of a roadmap that extends through 2030 and beyond.
Privately operated airports are also stepping up, integrating the latest technologies and embracing digitalization to align with smart airport standards seen across the globe. At the same time, the DOTr is strengthening its focus on regional airports—ensuring improved connectivity across the country’s many islands and remote areas.
These wide-reaching initiatives are creating opportunities for both local and international players in the aviation ecosystem. From airport design and construction to advanced technology, ground handling equipment, air traffic control systems, and runway innovation, the modernization push is opening up a dynamic, collaborative market.
In support of these efforts, The 8th Philippine Airport Modernization and Expansion Summit brings together over 300 key stakeholders from the aviation sector. This landmark event includes airport operators, airlines, government officials, technology providers, contractors, and ground handling companies. It serves as a vital platform to address industry challenges, exchange best practices, showcase cutting-edge solutions, and strengthen partnerships that will shape the future of Philippine aviation.
