Federico Canar, Jr., also known as Jun, is a proud Bicolano, having been born in March 4, 1956 in Sorsogon City, Sorsogon. Both of parents, Federico Canar, Sr. and Luisa Diaz, are also Sorsoganons.
Since he was a child, Jun Canar knew he wanted to be an engineer. He took up B.S. Industrial Engineering at Sorsogon School of Arts and Trades and learned his degree there in 1977. In his desire to pursue further studies, he took up his master’s in Business Administration at the graduate school of Philippine Christian University in 1991. He is also a Registered Master Electrician, an Associate Electrical Engineer and a Registered Electrical Engineer.
Jun Canar has served in various capacities throughout his career, starting as a promising engineer and rising through the ranks until his appointment as the General Manager (GM) of Metro Manila’s busiest railway system, the Metro Rail Transit-3, on August 8, 2022.
This, after his 17 solid years of service at the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), as a Principal Engineer from 2004 to 2005, Engineering Services Chief from 2005 to 2007, Department Manager B from 2007 to 2010 and Department Manager A from 2010 to 2021.
Prior to his stint at the LRTA, GM Canar was an acting leadman, supervisor and later as an Engineer chief of different sections of the Meralco Transit Organization, Inc. (METRO, INC.)
GM Canar is happily married to her lovely wife, Imelda Canar, from Imus, Cavite. They have three children namely, Mark Eric Canar, Jean Paul Canar, and John Michael Canar.
