Mr. Garry Garcia is a figure to be reckoned with as he has over 40 years of practical business experience and education, which led to where he is now
His growing years were not your run of the mill childhood but rather spent taking an active part in the family business. As years passed, he had the opportunity to study overseas to broaden his foundation in the industry. He attended the following institutions such as Educational Institute of the American Hotel and Motel Association, Nanyang Technological University, University of Toronto, and Cornell University where he was part of the editorial team of Cornell Hospitality Quarterly as a peer reviewer. As a working student in Canada, he moved up the business ladder from a hotel page boy to multi-properties management. His expertise ranges from traditional hotel operations to the various aspects of the tourism industry.
Mr. Garcia has a robust background in project management, construction, and refurbishments of hotels, resorts, and restaurants in the Asia-Pacific region. He has also served in various positions in organizations that aim to develop tourism. These include roles as Executive Vice President of the Philippine Tourism Congress, Tourism Commissioner of the City of Lapu-Lapu.
Besides, he has been affiliated with different tourism bodies such as the Department of Tourism (Philippines), Marianas Visitors Authority, Danang Department of Tourism Danang People's Committee, SKAL and MICECON.
Driven by the conscious need and challenge to keep up with new information and changing times, he is currently completing courses in Data Analytics with the National University of Singapore and Construction Management with Columbia University.
Mr. Garcia is not your typical executive with a pre-set manual or fixed mindset. He innovates, re-invents, and thinks out of the box. He believes that a successful hotel or resort operation comes from being an active stakeholder in the tourism community where they are located.
