Engr. FORTUNATO C. LEYNES has more than 40 years of experience in the electric power industry spanning across generation, transmission, and distribution sectors. Currently, he is the Chief Governance Officer and Independent Director of the Philippine Electricity Market Corporation and Chairman of its Renewable Energy Market Governance Commitee. He worked as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Clark electric Distribution Company. He had served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the largest privatized electric distribution utility in Nigeria.
He was also the Chairman of the Professional Regulatory Board of Electrical Engineering of the Professional Regulation Commission and held various executive positions at the Manila Electric Company and the National Power Corporation.
Engr. Leynes is a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer from the University of Santo Tomas and holds an Executive Master in Business Administration degree from the Asian Institute of Management. He garnered the First Place in the 1984 Licensure Examination for Professional Electrical Engineers. A Fellow of the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Phils., Inc. (IIEE), he is also a recipient of various citations and awards including the PRC 2014 Outstanding Electrical Engineer of the Philippines and the Thomasian Engineer Hall of Fame Award.
